 Sirius SCC1 Tuner is the way to go!

After years of using a portable universal tuner through either the FM tuner or aux. jack on my stereo, I at long last decisive it was time to upgrade my stereo head unit so I could integrate all my “attachments”. I’ve been using the Sirius SCC1 with my Alpine CDA-9886 for with regards to 5 months now, and I’ve been exceedingly pleased with it. The Sirius SCC1 works GREAT with the head unit and causes no issues with the other peripherals attached to it (I’ve also got the bluetooth module (KCA 200BT) and iPod cable). The sound quality is excellent–far better than it was using the portable unit through the auxillary input. One of the features I cherished most with regards to my portable unit was the capacity to mark favored songs or bands and be notified when they’re being broadcast on any channel. This unit maintains that ability, though I do miss the option of having the notification beep through the speakers; rather the notification is visual on the face of the head unit, so if you’re not looking at the head unit, you may without apparent effort miss it. (I haven’t read through all the instructions though, so this isn’t to say that the beep option doesn’t exist).
Don’t forget that with this unit, you will need the Sirius adaptor that is specific to your head unit. This is the TUNER itself, NOT the adaptor. YOU MUST HAVE BOTH in order for it to work (mine is paired with the KCA-SC100). All in all I’ve found the SCC1 to be a outstanding value. Installation was SUPER easy for me (I installed it myself in with regards to 20 minutes), the sound quality is great, and the comfortableness and cleanness of keeping everything integrated through the head unit makes it a outstanding product.

SIRIUS SCC1 SIRIUS Connect Universal Tuner
I installed this in my wife’s 2009 Toyota Corolla. Couldn’t be easier. All the wires are in the trunk to install this unit in the Corolla. I had to buy Directed Electronics TOYSC1 Toyota/Lexus/Scion SiriusConnect Tuner Interface to connect to this unit. One note in regards to the Corolla “Don’t bother spending the $60.00 for the antenna connection wire to use with the antenna already on the car. You may just cut the antenna wires on the antenna that comes with the TOYSC1 (throw out the rest) and just cut off the connector in the trunk and splice the wires together. Anybody that may solder a wire may splice these wires together. One suggestion. Instead of attempting to solder together the wires that are on the outside of the core wire (shielding or ground wire) just solder a jumper wire from one end of the shielding to the other wires shielding , this is much easier. Hope this support you save $60.00.”

 It is, what it is…
By the bottom line
Basically this product is what it is. It does what says it does, of course you still need to buy your adapter for your queer stereo brand, but other than that, it works. The only gripe that I had with the product was that the antenna was poor. From the begin it had an issue acquiring a signal. It would constantly cut-off, and that was SO annoying when you are attempting to listen to a broadcast. Luckily I had the old antenna from my portable unit and I used it instead. It was night and day, and I may now get great signal always. The antenna that works outstanding with this device is the Sirius Radio Dot Micro Car Antenna.
