5For Around $55 It Is A Very Good Backup Camera and Monitor
By R. Graham
This Pyle PLCM36 3.5″ TFT LCD Backup Camera and Monitor is my introductory backup camera scheme purchase. Vision behind my Dodge Sprinter HighTop van is poor because of my wheelchair lift. I have a friend who had an after market backup system in her Toyota Tacoma for $500+. The display (monitor) in her Toyota is in the center of the mirror. Her Toyota uuit is no doubt “better quality” altho she could find or formulate any specs for her camera or mirror monitor. Seeing her system sent me on a search for my own backup system.

4Pretty good for the money

Just installed this camera scheme sucessfully. Even even though the install is somewhat simple it actually doesn’t come with instructions.

The instructions are non-existent so you need to know a little bit before you start. In order to install it in my ’03 Ford Taurus I had to do the following….
1) drill out a hole behind the license plate for the camera cord to go (there was an existent hole, but I necessitated a drill and dremel to make it bigger).
2) remove a lot of the paneling inside the trunk (pretty easy if you buy one of those tools to pop off the plastic rivets that holds the molding in place) you may get this tool at any car parts place for with regards to $8
3) find the wire going to the reverse light (black with pink stripe in my car’s case) and a ground wire (black)….don’t forget to disconnect the battery first
4) splice the camera wire onto the reverse light wire and ground wire
5) put everything back
6) run the camera wire up to the front of the car.
At this point you think you are done until you realize you need to do a heap of sort of similar splice in order to get power to the camera. Fortunately, rather of messing with this I went to Radio Shack (now known as The Shack) and purchased a 12V / 2A plug that you put in a car outlet that had a power cord that fit into the camera.

Whoah, it worked. Although when we introductory plugged it in we had color….although since then it seems to be more black and white. I think in either low light conditions or very bright conditions, the effigy appears basically in black and white. Either way, the clarity is beauteous good.

Newer models of backup cameras have wireless capability so you don’t have to run the cord from the trunk to the center console.

The camera quality is decent, it unquestionably serves the intent of a backup camera. It does work well in low light conditions

4Rearview camera

Item didn’t come with instructions. Website stated “manual coming”. Overall, it has a clear view, (needs to be cleaned when it rains) and it serves the purpose.
