Most TVs lately may connect to Computers/Laptops out of the box using a range of connections like VGA/RGB, DVI, HDMI, S-video or RCA. The VGA connection is probably going to be the easiest to connect because it is the same as your Computer monitor. If you only have a laptop it is the lead you use to connect an external monitor. Any of the connections cited may be used to connect your PC and TV. If you can not find the rectify lead, you may have to buy one from any Computer or Electrical store.

If your TV does not have either VGA or DVI then it may be a little more difficult. If your Computer has TV out then it must have S-video or RCA so you are back in business. If the Computer does not have these connections then you will need to buy a VGA to TV converter which will give you either S-video or RCA to connect. HDMI is another way to connect, but your TV ought to be HDMI compatible.

You will need to set the TV input to receive your PC output signal. It must be easy to find within the menu, if in doubt check the TV’s manual.

That ought to be it when you have the connections in place switch on your computer to see it on your TV.

So that you may switch amongst you computer monitor and TV without disconnecting anything you will need to buy a switch, available at most computer stores, but you may do without it.

You may go a step further and connect the audio from your Computer to you TV as well. To do this you will need a mini stereo plug/Jack to Phono lead (RCA composite audio). The mini stereo plug goes into the back of your PC and the Phono leads into the input of your TV. That is it you now have video and audio from your PC to your TV. If you would like the audio from your computer to go to both your TV and PC speakers then you will need a mini plug splitter.

5Works Perfectly!
By TAG
I purchased the “Phillips SJM3151 Universal Remote for iPod” in regards to a month ago and it works incisively like I hoped it would. I use it becasue I have speakers downstars and outside that are hooked up to my stereo upstairs – so I may plug my iPod into the stereo and use this remote anyplace inside or outside the house to adjust the volume, skip to the next song, change the playlist etc. All you do is plug it in, put your iPod in it, and begin using it. I have an 80GB iPod (with when it comes to 70GB of music on it) and was thrilled that it connects to the iPod right away (you push the button with the iPod picture on it). The menu choices are “Playlists”, “Artists”, “Albums”, and “Songs”. When I select any of these menu choices my stuff comes up right away, even with 70GB. The screen displays 5 things at a time and you may navagate down (one line) or page down (next 5), which the unit does quickly. The screen goes blank to conserve battery life various seconds after using it. The remote feels solid and has a intimate layout. One thing to mention is that even altho this is a Universal Remote, only the iPod may be controlled without “line of sight” to the unit.

I read that some of the other models have to import lists from the iPod when you initial set it up. Reviewers of those models said this was a pain becasue it has to re-import when you add or modify stuff or if you plug in a dissimilar iPod. Not so with this one – you just put any iPod in the dock and get started controlling it with this remote.

One minor things I wish it did – I can’t commence the iPod playing without using the remote. This is becasue when you put it in the dock the iPod changes to that “ok to unplug” screen. Even if I start out it playing first, it stops when you plug it into the dock.

To sum it up – simple to use, magnificent quality, works like it came with my iPod, love it.

2Forget your playlists
By Dan
If you want to listen to your playlists the way you made them, forget this product.
For a good deal of unknown reason it will take all the songs on your playlist and rearrange them in alphabetical order. Even if you make the list up of albums, it will rearrange all the songs on the list. When I called Phillips tech support, they told me this couldn’t be true. Then the tech support person put me on hold and tried it out. She came back on the line saying I was right and there was no way to rectify the problem.

Except for this problem, which to me is major, it works very well.
