“Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free…” In 1921 my grandfather came to this country from Italy. With my grandmother and his four children, three girls and a boy (my father) they disembarked at Ellis Island. For my grandfather this was a dream that in the long run became reality. America at last, where he was free to work, to achieve a better life for his family, this was heaven on world for him. With hardly more than the clothes on their backs they came to this country, to an ideology called freedom, to experience this new adventure with all it is promises of Life, Liberty, and pursuit of Happiness. My grandfather loved this country and he lived his dream daily of his life here in America. When the Great Depression hit in 1929 my grandfather was working in a factory in New Haven, Ct. Because of hard economic times there was a layoff of workers. Even even though he wasn’t included in the layoff he went to his floor supervisor and asked that he be laid off in order that his friend could keep his job. At this time there were 6 mouths to feed at home, another girl was born in 1925, but with his achievements and willingness to work he knew he could provide for his family. Gramps owned a two family house in New Haven, he owned farm land in the next town over where he grew vegetables and had a few farm animals. He likewise had a business that he worked nights and weekends when he was working in the factory. He was a mason by trade and he saw his leaving the factory as an chance to work at it full time. From stones and rocks he found in the countryside he made walls, fireplaces, outdoor sheds and the like, forming each piece of rock with his tools, cementing them into solid originative works of stone. He worked for lawyers, doctors, accountants, professional people and his satisfied clients provided him with steady work by word of mouth advertising. He never worked for any person else again. It was 42 years ago, I was 17 years old, while visiting my grandfather he told me that someday there would be, as he put it, a revolution in this country – not with guns but with people marching on Washington, DC. He told me that the politicians were getting greedy, that the government was getting too big, and the larger the government the more taxes will be levied on the people. Today the revolution my gramps foretold of is unfolding in a great deal of shapes and forms. The most noteworthy of this is the Tea Party motion group that is made up of frequent persons like you and me standing together, to protect our country and our Constitution from the those that would distort the foundation of our outstanding country with lies and manipulation. When visiting in Europe, President Barrack Hussein Obama had the audacity to call Americans arrogant. I think perhaps he misinterpreted arrogance for pride, he misinterpreted our arrogance for love of our country. Our pride in this country, a country that has been a beacon of hope around the world, a champion for freedom, helping those in need all over the world. Perhaps he misjudged us as he did with his pastor and mentor, his friend, a preacher who for years spoke of his hatred of America, a man who is bigoted and calls for the destruction of our way of life. Why does a president, elected by the persons have so much disdain for his people? The majority in this country cried out versus the Health Care Bill and yet it was passed by using closed door underhanded deals in order to get it passed? Is this the America we live in? Is this the America we live in where the speaker of the house tells her colleagues to vote for an unread bill, ” Don’t worry we’ll repair it later.”? That’s like buying a employed car and not looking beneath the hood. I may go on and on and tell you what’s faulty with what is going in our country but it won’t accomplish anything. Rather lets talk regarding what’s right when it comes to this country – the Bill of Rights and the Constitution of the United States. You recognise what we need to do. The time is now to go back to what makes this country great– It’s our freedom!! It’s our right for Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness. Its not too late to take back our country, write your congressmen, your senators, call for not only the repeal of the Health Bill, but demand the stopping of more prominent government, the intrusion of huge brother. We need to stop this insanity before the powers that be turn this great land into a third world country. Join the Tea Party movement, write letters to your state elected officials and ask for the impeachment of Obama, after all he was elected by “We the people” and plainly he does not want to listen the pleas of the majority. He needs to be fired from his occupation and as for the other “politicians” that don’t seem to listen our wishes, they need to be voted out of office. America—Love or Leave It? This is my country. If you truly believe in the sanctity of government, Lost Rights could very well change your mind for good. You will discover that government abuses run far and wide, from police harassment, to IRS intimidation, to government censorship of television and radio.
These abuses are far worse than many people realize. The American public has become too apathetic, too vulnerable to political rambling, and too accepting of abusive, coercive government rules and regulations.
James Bovard provides an excellent account of these government abuses. This book is well documented and convincing. It will change the minds of many liberals. 15 of 15 people found the following review helpful. |
