We probably all know someone in our families or other than as supposed or expected who has been affected by stroke. Stoke harm runs the gamut from scarcely noticeable to life-altering and death. There is so much data available on the internet and other places, so feel free to do your own exploration for statistics.
This is a personal subject to me because it runs on both sides of my family. My paternal grandmother was paralyzed on the left side. I don’t know her age at the time of her stroke. It has also affected two of my sisters, my mother and aunt (her sister). All four of them started with TIA’s, more ordinarily known as Trans Ischemic Attacks, or mini-strokes. All four women had these BEFORE the age of 50. Strokes occur when blood flow to the brain is interrupted. The recovery from a stroke depends on which side of the brain it occurred and the amount of damage.
What matters most right now is that strokes are preventable, and everyone ought to be intimate with the warning signs so you will recognise what to do in case you are in a position to help.
The American Stroke Association wants you to learn the warning signs of stroke:
- Sudden numbness or weakness of the face, arm or leg, particularly on one side of the body
- Sudden confusion, disturb speaking or understanding
- Sudden disturb seeing in one or both eyes
- Sudden disturb walking, dizziness, loss of remainder or coordination
- Sudden, severe headache with no known cause
If you suspect that somebody has had a stroke, get them to the ER without delay or call 911. Not all warning signs occur in each stroke. Check the time. You may be asked when the initial sensations or changes started. If possible, ask the victim to repeat a lot of words, to swallow, to stick out the tongue, or raise an arm. If they have any difficultness with these commands, a stroke is likely.
It’s very dreadful when your loved one doesn’t fit the apparent profile of a stroke victim. None of my family members smoked or drank or had drug issues. Some had high blood pressure, but were being treated for it. My sister passed away last year after having various strokes over the course of a few years, and she was very thin and active. She was only 60.
Help prevent stroke by your lifestyle. Unhealthy lifestyle constituents include smoking, drinking and drug abuse, obesity and physical inactivity. Treat high blood pressure. Lower your cholesterol. Exercise and eat right. Follow the counsel of your doctor. There is no guarantee that this will prevent a stroke, but peace of mind comes from knowing you did everything within your power to prevent this heart-wrenching damage.

Pure Fun Rock & Roll There’s a rock & roll revival going on in America, with bands like Lynam, Airbourne, Lost City Angels, Endeverafter, and this band – American Heartbreak – bringing back the kind of pure, fun, rock & roll we all grew up with but mainstream radio is keeping off the airwaves.
American Heartbreak, which includes former members of Jetboy and Exodus, plays ultra-melodic, poppy, upbeat rock & roll along the lines of the New York Dolls, Starz, Moxy, T-Rex and most exceptionally Cheap Trick. This is just pure, fun, rock & roll. The band does come throughout as a bit too polished at times. I think a somewhat raunchier, heavier sound would give them a bit more edge, but that’s a minor complaint when it comes to an album that’s way too much fun to listen to.
If your idea of outstanding rock & roll is the kind of music you play at full volume while singing along in the car with your friends (the opening of That 70′s Show comes to mind), then you’re utterly going to love American Heartbreak. You may sing along to just regarding each song on this superfun album from the very initial spin.
PS – Greatest. Cover. Ever.
These Songs Stuck In My Head For Days! This band has a outstanding sound, similar to Cheap Trick with a touch of AC/DC and Bad Company added into the mix. Immediately after listening to the album, the track “Sick N Tired” was stuck in my head for three days. This band is portion of what has become an uprising for the classic rock sound. Bands like Lynam, Airbourne, Wig Wam, Reckless Love, Crazy Lixx, and The Last Vegas are all returning rock music back to the heydays of the 1980′s when there was good times and outstanding music.
American Heartbreak is not “hair metal” by any stretch, but you may listen a ton of both 70′s and 80′s rock influences allround the songs. The vocalist is similar to Robin Zander of Cheap Trick, and they let loose for a good guitar solo here and there, as well as break into a “jam band” on occasion, too.
This is a layered, melodic, rocking album with clever lyrics and tight performances. It will be right up your alley if you are a fan of any of the bands I cited above. The sound samples sound great, but not one thing may do this album justice until you listen it for yourself. It would have sounded outstanding on the radio twenty years ago, and it will sound good twenty years from now.
Awesome!!!!!!!!!!! This album is worth each penny I always say if there are at least three songs on a CD that I like then I feel like I got my moneys worth. This album is the opposite. I have a hard time finding 3 songs I don’t like. This is just a outstanding rock album, no question. I purchased this album after hearing Michael Butler and the Rock and Roll Geek Show podcast.
Thanks Michael.
